Welcome to the International Society of Ocular Oncology (ISOO) – a global network of clinicians, researchers, and professionals advancing the field of ocular oncology.
ISOO welcomes applicants from a wide range of backgrounds involved in the study, treatment, support, or advancement of ocular oncology.
Membership applications are accepted year-round. However, Ordinary Membership is reviewed only once per year. To be considered, you must apply by May 31. Approved applicants will be notified by July 15 following the annual review and vote.
If your application is submitted within 30 days of an ISOO conference, we cannot guarantee it will be reviewed or approved in time for participation. Please plan accordingly and apply early.

Membership Groups and Requirements
Ordinary Members (Voting Members)
For physicians and scientists whose primary focus is the clinical care or academic study of ocular oncology.
Requirements:
Five or more Medline-indexed publications in ocular oncology, OR a confirmed reference from an existing Ordinary Member (this can be selected in the online application)
CV and training history
Approved by vote of Ordinary Members (June only)
Member-in-Training
For trainees in medical, scientific, or allied health programs related to ocular oncology.
Requirements:
Proof of training status
Letter of recommendation from an Ordinary Member (you select a member in the online application)
Membership valid for up to two years post-training
Collaborating Members
For professionals in healthcare or research whose work intersects with ocular oncology but is not their primary focus.
Requirements:
Documentation of qualifications, or a confirmed reference from another ISOO member (this can be selected in the online application)
Approved by the ISOO Executive Council
Emeritus Members
For retired Ordinary Members who have attended at least four Regular ISOO Meetings.
Requirements:
Request or nomination must be submitted in writing
Lifetime membership, no dues, non-voting
Approved by the Executive Council
Allied Members
For professionals working in biopharma, medical devices, NGOs, or support organizations related to ocular oncology.
Requirements:
Employment in a relevant role (no reference required)
Approved by the ISOO Executive Council
Honorary Members
Honorary Membership is not available by application. It is awarded by nomination of the Executive Council and requires a two-thirds vote by Ordinary Members during the Business Meeting at ISOO’s bi-annual conference. This recognition is reserved for individuals who have made exceptional contributions to the field of ocular oncology or to the Society.
How to Apply
Complete the Online Application:
Choose the membership category that fits your background and upload all required documents. Applications are accepted at any time.
Review and Approval Process
The ISOO Membership Committee reviews all applications. After the committee reviews all applications, they must be approved by the Executive Leadership Board. Ordinary membership applications also require a vote by all current Ordinary members.
Approval Process by membership category:
Ordinary Membership:
Applications are accepted year-round, but to be considered for the current cycle, they must be submitted by May 31.
All eligible applications are reviewed in May and early June.
Current Ordinary Members vote on approved Ordinary applications from June 15th to June 30th.
Final decisions are announced by July 15.
All Other Categories (Collaborating, Allied, Member-in-Training, Emeritus):
Applications are reviewed on a rolling basis throughout the year.
The ISOO Executive Council approves most non-Ordinary applications quarterly.
During conference seasons, reviews may be more frequent (e.g., every 2 weeks), but not guaranteed.
Note: Applications submitted within 30 days of an ISOO Conference are not guaranteed review in time for participation.

No. Honorary Membership is by nomination only. It is granted by the Executive Council and voted on by Ordinary Members during the Business Meeting at an ISOO conference.

Your application will still be reviewed but not eligible for that year’s vote. You may be offered another membership type if submitting an abstract for a conference.

No. We welcome researchers, allied professionals, trainees, and others working in or supporting ocular oncology.

Membership & Conference Participation
If you are applying for membership in order to present at an upcoming ISOO conference, please be aware of the following eligibility policies:
All presenting authors must be active ISOO members in good standing (paid dues).
Applications should be submitted at least 30 days before the event to ensure timely review and approval.
Ordinary Membership applications must be submitted by May 31 to be eligible for the annual voting cycle.
Invited speakers must apply for Allied Membership, unless granted an exception by the Executive Council.
For main podium presentations, at least one co-author must be an Ordinary Member, or the lead author must submit a written justification.
